Privacy Policy
This explains what ClayScope collects, why, who else touches it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than the usual thing.
The short version. We collect your account details and the shooting data you enter. We use it to run the product and show you your own analytics. We do not sell it, we do not advertise, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed below who help us operate.
One thing worth knowing: when you shoot in a squad, the person keeping score and the other shooters in that squad can see your name and your score for that round.

1. Who we are
ClayScope is operated by Elements & Grain LLC, which is the data controller for the information described here. Contact: privacy@clayscope.com.

We do not collect payment card details. If you subscribe, our payment processor handles that and we never see the card number.
3. Why we use it
- To provide the service — store your rounds, sync them across your devices, produce your analytics
- To operate squad scoring — deliver a round you scored to the shooter it belongs to
- To communicate — account emails such as confirmation, sign-in and password reset
- To keep it secure — detect abuse, investigate faults
- To improve the product — using aggregated, de-identified data that does not identify you
We will only send you marketing email if you have separately opted in, and every such email has an unsubscribe link. Account emails are not marketing and cannot be unsubscribed while you hold an account.
4. What other people can see
ClayScope is partly a shared record, so some information is visible to others by design:
- Your squad. When you shoot in a squad, the scorer and the other shooters see your display name and your score for that round.
- The scorer. Whoever keeps score creates the record and can see it before you accept it.
- Your Shooter ID. Visible to people you shoot with, so they can bind a round to the right person.
Your history as a whole is private. Nobody else can see your averages, your miss patterns or your past rounds. Squadmates only see the round you shot together.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the providers who help us run the service:

We may also disclose information if legally required, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
6. Where it is stored
On our servers, in the United States. The app is offline-first, which means your rounds are also stored on your own device before they reach us, and remain there so the app works without a signal. Clearing your browser storage or uninstalling the app removes that local copy.
7. How long we keep it
- Account and shooting data — while your account is open
- After you delete your account — removed within 30 days, except where we must keep something by law
- Access requests — up to 24 months, then deleted
- Technical logs — typically 90 days
Rounds you scored for other people, which they accepted into their own histories, remain part of their records after you leave.
8. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Access — get a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correct — fix anything inaccurate
- Delete — remove your account and data
- Export — receive your record in a portable format
- Object or restrict — limit how we use it
Email privacy@clayscope.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for this and we will not treat you differently for asking.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we have never done so.
9. Age restriction
ClayScope is for shooters aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
If you believe someone under 13 has created an account, contact privacy@clayscope.com and we will close it and delete the data.
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your rows is enforced at the database level, so one user cannot read another's history even if the application had a fault. Passwords are hashed and we never see them.
No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
11. Cookies and local storage
We use browser storage for two things only: keeping you signed in, and storing your rounds on your device so the app works offline. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party trackers or cross-site analytics.
12. Changes
We will publish any update here with a new version number and effective date. If a change is material we will ask you to accept it when you next sign in.
