Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of ClayScope. Please read them — particularly section 5, which covers what happens when another person records a score about you, because that is unusual and it matters.
ClayScope is currently in an open beta and is available to shooters aged 13 and over.
During the beta the service is provided as-is, features will change, and we may need to reset data. Do not rely on ClayScope as your only record of a score that matters to you.

1. Who we are
ClayScope is operated by Elements & Grain LLC ("ClayScope", "we", "us"). Contact: support@clayscope.com.
2. Eligibility and age
You must be at least 13 years old to use ClayScope. By creating an account you confirm that you are.
ClayScope is open to shooters aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and under-13 accounts are not permitted. If you coach a school team, you may hold an account yourself and record rounds; each shooter must be at least 13 to create their own account.
If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will close it and delete the associated data.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@clayscope.com if you believe someone else has accessed it.
Your Shooter ID identifies you to other users when you shoot as part of a squad. Give accurate information when you register — the value of a shared record depends on people being who they say they are.
4. Your content and your record
Your scores, notes and shooting history are yours. You keep ownership of them.
You grant us the limited licence needed to operate the service: to store your data, display it back to you, transmit it to the other people involved in a round you shot, and process it to produce your analytics. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
We may use aggregated and de-identified information — for example, average scores across all users on a given discipline — to improve the product. This never identifies you.
You can export your data at any time, and you can ask us to delete it. See our Privacy Policy.
5. Scores recorded by other people
This section describes something specific to ClayScope, so please read it.
ClayScope lets one person keep score for a whole squad. That means another user can create a record about your shooting and send it to you, and that you can do the same for others.
What that means in practice
- A round recorded by someone else does not enter your history until you accept it.
- When you shoot in a squad, the scorer and the other shooters in that squad can see your name and your score for that round. That is how scoring has always worked at a club, and it is unavoidable in a shared scorekeeper.
- A score marked verified means a second person recorded it and you claimed it. It is not a guarantee of accuracy.
- You may contest a call. Contests and reversals are logged.
We are not the referee
ClayScope records what people entered. We do not adjudicate disputes about whether a target was actually dead or lost. If you disagree with a call, that is between you, your scorer and your club or governing body. We will not act as arbiter, and we will not alter a score on one party's request.
Do not record deliberately false scores for another person. Doing so is a breach of these terms and grounds for closing your account.
6. No official standing
ClayScope is an independent product. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Amateur Trapshooting Association or any other governing body.
Scores in ClayScope are your own record. They are not official results, they do not affect your classification or yardage, and they are not a substitute for anything filed with a governing body. Where we refer to registered targets or an ATA year, we are helping you organise your own data — nothing more.
7. Beta status and availability
ClayScope is in open beta. We give no uptime guarantee. Features may change or be withdrawn, and we may need to reset or migrate data as the product develops. We will give notice where we reasonably can.
The app is built to work offline and to store your rounds on your device before they reach our servers, but no system is perfect. Keep your own backup of any score that genuinely matters to you.
8. Paid plans
Some features may require a paid subscription. Where they do, the price, billing period and what is included will be shown before you pay. You can cancel at any time and will keep access for the remainder of the period you have paid for. Cancelling does not delete your data — your record stays yours, and you keep access to the free tier.
We do not offer refunds for partial periods unless required by law.
9. Acceptable use
Do not:
- record scores you know to be false, whether your own or another person's
- impersonate another shooter, or use another person's Shooter ID or ATA number
- create an account for anyone under 13
- attempt to access data belonging to other users
- scrape, resell or redistribute the service or its data
- interfere with the operation or security of the service
10. Ending your account
You can close your account at any time by emailing support@clayscope.com. We will delete your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Where the breach is not serious, we will contact you first.
Note that rounds you scored for other people, which they have accepted into their own histories, remain part of their records.
11. Disclaimers and liability
ClayScope is provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost scores, lost data, lost opportunity or lost competitive standing. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we make a material change we will raise the version number, publish the new version here, and ask you to accept it the next time you sign in. We keep a record of which version you accepted and when.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, USA, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Minnesota.
